Dirr's Hardy Trees and Shrubs
lavishly illustrated, this book by planstman and master plant photographer Michael A. Dirr describes the best woody plants adpated to cooler climates. Covers over 500 species and includes over 700 cultivars and varieties!

My favorite auricula book is Auriculas : Their Care and Cultivation (Classic Garden Plants) Brenda Hyatt / Published 1989. Full of beautiful color photos of my favorite auriculas! My first auricula plants came from Brenda's nursery and I still buy new plants from her today! Although out of print now a few copies are available from booksellers.

These ingenious books replicate as much as possible the climate of an orchid's naitive habitat.

Orchid Species Culture: Volume 1 covers the genus Pescatorea, Phaius, Phalaenopsis, Pholidota, Phragmipedium and Pleione.

Orchid Species Culture: Volume 2 includes more than 1,200 species of Dendrobium.

I also grow Japanese Maples (Acer). Their foliage and tree shapes has such a delicate feel and the Spring and Fall colors are like having two flowering seasons. THE best Acer book has to be: Japanese Maples - Vertrees
I also recommend: Primulas : The Complete Guide by Mary A. Robinson. Many of my English plants came

from mary's nursery!

and also Auriculas by Gwen Baker, Peter Ward
